Famed golf pro and course architect George Fazio blended features of both Pine Valley and Merion into his design at Jupiter Hills- the high point of his career. Built from a distinct sand ridge that runs laterally along the Atlantic seacoast north of West Palm Beach, the terrain was so good only 87000 cubic yards of earth were moved. The course has been ranked on America’s 100 Greatest for 23 years, 1971 through 2004. It has been ranked on America’s Second 100 Greatest since 2013. With 40-to-50-yard elevation changes on almost every hole, Jupiter Hills is like no other course in South Florida. “There was a geologic study that showed where Jupiter Hills was built, thousands of years ago the ocean was there,” Fazio said. “That’s why the elevation is so high.” And the course is so difficult.
